Book reading by Sachiko Hamada at Harwood Museum of Art

Harwood Artist-in-Residence Sachiko Hamada will be reading from her recently published novel "A Forest in F Minor" on Thursday, December 6 at 7 PM at The Harwood Museum of Art of the University of New Mexico (238 Ledoux Street, Taos, NM). This program in free to Members & UNM Community or $8.

Hamada explains: "For my Harwood talk I plan to share my life journey with colorful, funny, and bitter episodes up to why I ended up writing a novel, "Forest in F Minor," which I never dreamed of writing.

"I also plan to talk about the Japanese culture I grew up with, the encounter to American counterculture as a magazine editor, a feminist movement in the 80's Japan, my trip to San Francisco and Peru, my Chicago college life, and a vivid dream that brought me to New York City. Then I will talk about a Japanese National TV station I worked for as a video-editor in a evening news team, a friendship with homeless people which led me to be an award-winning "Inside Life Outside" documentary maker, and a script for a dramatic feature-length film - "The Nail That Sticks Up," a companion to "Forest in F Minor," which I hope to getting made soon. And finally why I'm in Taos now - a mysterious alignment with spirits."
